TOTAL THREAT

Made with Unity.

I made TOTAL THREAT in three months, mostly working on it on the weekends.
It's a shooter game inspired by Max Payne, Superhot and 2000s action movies.

The player's life is on a timer and to get more time, the player must damage the enemies. This forces the player to move swiftly through the level. It also prevents the player from easily manipulating the AI's flaws, like waiting for them around a corner.

The player can pickup weapons and throw them as well. Each weapon only has one magazine worth of ammo in them, so mastering the art of midair weapon swaps is recommended. The player has a resource that is used for shoot dodges. Shoot dodge is basically the same as in Max Payne, but in first person. That resource is refilled by killing enemies.

The game has three levels and each level takes about two minutes to complete. Playtesters have found the game mostly very difficult but I like the idea of them having to master the game instead of just beating it and forgetting about it right after.

Key features
  • Time slow / shoot dodge mechanic
  • Active ragdoll enemies
  • Enemy AI
  • Weapon pickup/throw system
